Prepare for Sarawak: Wan Azizah

KUALA LUMPUR, Mar 10: Following Pakatan Rakyat’s defeats in the Kerdau and Merlimau by-elections, Parti Keadilan Rakyat president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (pic) said the Sarawak state polls and the general election would be held soon.
Saying Barisan Nasional's gains in the by-elections would encourage the coalition into calling the 13th general election anytime soon, Azizah called on PR to also work on the Sarawak election.
“Pakatan Rakyat will embark on strategising to face the Sarawak election as well as the 13th general election. Coordinated work at every level must start now,” she urged in a statement.
Saying the defeat in Merlimau and Kerdau were expected as the constituencies were BN’s stronghold which had been fortified through excessive remuneration thrown to voters, Azizah said the Election Commission must be free and independent, and attend to complaints by all parties transparently.
Azizah also urged PR to continue approach the people.
“Pakatan Rakyat must continue to be close with the people as their well-being cannot be covered with election goodies," she added.
